Garment District Layout :: My Wedding Day

As I was previewing Marion's Garment District line I absolutely fell in love with her papers. They are so gorgeous and detailed. I didn't know what I wanted to make with them right off but I was totally inspired by them.

When I finally got a chance to get crafty this weekend I had a long list of things to finish up and to get started on. After completing a couple of pending projects these papers peeked through the mess leftovers from other projects on my desk and this layout just sprang up from nowhere. It only took me a couple of hours to get it about 80% complete and I just loved every little bit. I kept going back to my stash and remembering things that I'd purchased but never used that would be great on this layout. I just kept layering and stamping and stamping and stamping. I finally finished it last night after a long day of work and watch the shuttle depart Houston tonight.

I started off with Garment District Adds paper and I just fell in love with it. I love the subtle flowers on the newsprint paper. They almost look like doilies from a distance. So I added a doily that I had leftover from a previous project to compliment that paper.

Next I used some of the journaling spots from the kit stacked on top of each other to separate the page a little bit. I especially loved the pink stripes so I put that one in the center so I could use the entire print.

A lot of stamping using Technique Tuesday Studio AE stamps by Ali Edwards, Papertrey Ink stamps and dies, and a few of Kelly Purkey's new dies with Simon Says Stamp added layers and layers of embellishment.

I remembered this stamp set Miss Caroline Baby clear stamp set from MME that mimics the lace detail on the journaling card perfectly in my stash and stamped it multiple times in the corners of my layout to add some intricacy up there plus I added a few small dots around the lace for interest with a black pen.

I'm loving all the texture from this layout. My favorite part has to be lace stamping at the top since it picks up the lace on my wedding dress and the lace embellishment design on the middle journaling card. I used a different set of thickers for the "day" letters in my title then at the last minute decided to cover them up with some glitter. (Not sure about the glitter though...that might be changed soon.)

This was my first layout that I scrapbooked about my wedding and I'm so excited to scrap more pictures.

Thank you for stopping by.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Beautiful layout! I love all of the layers and how you used so many different stamps, papers, and dies. What a wonderful way to preserve your day.

  2. That is a very beautiful project Angela! I hope you can inspire a lot of people to come up with something as sweet and sentimental as this. I love everything about it! The devil’s in the details. You have a nice color scheme going on and though there are a lot in it, it doesn’t look cluttered at all.

    1. Thank you so much Kelli. I loved these papers that Marion designed and I used those as my inspiration. While working on this layout I just kept adding and adding until I got the feel of things the way I liked it and then I started removing things until I felt it really complimented the photos and didn't distract too much from them.

      Thanks again for visiting.

    2. It would be great to have something like that on a large picture frame hanging on the living room! You get to remember your wedding day every time you see it. Isn't that wonderful?
