Lattice Blossom Album | Marion Smith Designs & Leaky Shed Studios

Hey there.

I thought I posted this here weeks ago.......I made this mini album using Marion's Lattice Blossom album designed for Leaky Shed Studios. You can't believe how fabulous this chipboard album is. It's simply gorgeous. The intricacy of the die-cutting is just phenomenal. I'm in love with this chipboard album.

I attempted Marion's 31 Day challenge this year and oh my goodness, making videos is so much fun but so much work. I gave up after filming 5 videos and only edited 3 of them. I did get to make a video showing the details of the album. You can catch that video at the end of this post.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great week.

Supplies:

Patterned papers from the Romance Novel Line designed by Marion for Prima Marketing.
All flowers & Bling are Prima.
Chipboard Letters are from Studio Calico.

Creative Weekend: Valentine Class

Look what I did this weekend, took some down time to take my friends Valentine Class at our local scrapbook store. Lynne is so fun and creative gal, she loves to teach others about color and distressing. Well you all know how I love to distress my artwork and love the little bits of embellishing a piece...this class was so fun and a great way to spend a weekend afternoon. Just taking a class no teaching just learning from others.
Valentine Class by Lynne Forsythe
we worked with these amazing products, Lynne taught us how to color with
Viva Colour, Inka Gold,
Authentique-Lovely Collection
Petaloo flowers.
We had so much fun distressing, coloring and ripping papers...
we also learned how to make our leaves from a flower
This one is my favorite!!!
Speaking of classes you must go over and check out Marion Smith website for her up and coming Online Workshops. A great way to be inspired and learn top notch techniques from Marion herself wicked cool and  I can't wait to take a few...

enjoy learning, Peggy Lee

Last week I shared with you my top 5 CHA picks and at the top of the list were the new Tattered Angel's Paint System kits.  Today I want to share with you a quick technique using the fine wood systems.

I created this card using the Antiqued Hickory Fine Wood and the Precious Stone Turquoise kits.  I love that the wood looks like wood veneer.

Here is a video demo of the Antiqued Hickory Fine Wood kit and a glimpse at some of the other kit systems.

I'm having so much fun playing with these paint systems. If you purchase them, please share your projects with us in the Artsy Addicts Facebook Group.

ATC Digital Valentine

I was inspired by my friend to create an ATC size Valentine little pretty, using one of the digital prints by Marion that she has on her website here at www.marionsmithdesigns.com. This digital is one of the Garment District Mini Book printables, they can be used for so many more ideas in your creative projects.

ATC base measures 2.5 x 3.5, which I cut from a digital print, distressed the edges with a distressing tool and inked the edges. In the next photo I used a Sizzix die to cut the heart out of a piece of corganated cardboard, used glimmer glam to paint the heart with a splash of tattered leather glimmer mist.
Added some splats of glimmer glam and glimmer mist to the ATC, great texture. Then I decided I wanted to add some gesso but using my swirl stamp-I brushed on the gesso over the stamp and stamped away..it's a really cool technique. (make sure you wash your stamp right away with warm water)
see the closer look...nice texture
On the heart took some gesso on the tip of my finger and  brushed the edges of the heart then dried it with my heat tool, to make the gesso bubble...wicked cool effect.
Created this little pretty flower using tattered floral die with some linen fabric, glimmer misted and white washed with gesso, added a brad. Created a cluster of burlap, pearls and twine glued to the heart and the ATC is finished. Could be given the way it is, or add it to a card, scrapbook layout or even adorn a gift package.

Happy creating, Peggy Lee

Hampton Arts -  Licensed Stamps & Die Systems.  Hampton Arts introduced over 24 different new licensed stamp sets this year with companies like Graphic 45, 7Gypsies, JiliBean Soup, Authentique, Doodlebug, Ki, Bella Boulavard and Eco Park.  There were so many gorgeous stamps in their booth that it is difficult to list them all here. These partnerships insure that you have all your favorite designs  to match your favorite new paper collections of 2013. Hampton Arts also partnered with Sizzix to bring you many of these stamps as combo sets of stamps and wafer dies that make fussy cutting a thing of the past.   Among my favorites were the set from 7 Gypsies with its nostalgic frames, sports, and food themes.   Look for these releases in Mid March.

Plaid - ModMelts  These are faux resin glue sticks that you melt into silicone molds with your high temp glue gun. They have two styles available that were specially formulated for creating durable embellishments. Sea Glass is the clear stick and this creates a beach glass look. Milk Glass is the white stick and it creates a look of vintage milk glass. Cooled Mod Melts can be altered with a variety of finishes. You can use acrylic paints, shimmer mists, alcohol inks, glitter, nail polish, metallic paints, pearl paint and even embossing powders on either stick.

Of course I could keep going and going, but I wanted to bring you the top 5 products that are going to enhance your beautiful paper crafting projects, and really maximize your dollar.  Did you have a favorite CHA release that I didn't list?  If so, share it on the Artsy Addicts Facebook Page.

Digital Play layout

I've been playing along with Marion on her 31 Day Challenge for January, I decided to have some creative play with some left over digial prints of Marion Smiths printables which you can purchase on her website at http://www.marionsmithdesigns.com/
Here is a page out of my 31 Day Artsy Journal, using white card stock base, stamped the background with a script stamp and butterflies stamp. Inked my edges with Distress inks (brushed corudory, vintage photo) and Distress Stain (walnut stain). Added some doilies under the pocket digital, under the photo is layers of odds and ends of digital printouts.  (Don't throw away your leftover pieces from your extra digital prints I love to use them in my layouts, on my cards and tags).
Added some Prima flowers and leaves along with bling, stamp a title LOVE! Marion's digital label is so cute with the pink background soft romantic feel... I Created a over sized tag with old scrabble book paper, inked the edges and added some digital embellishments. Stamped a LOVE banner, tucked in another inked doily and on the flip side can be used for all your journaling.
Dig out those extra digital printable and give it try in your scrapbook layouts, cards, tags and altered art. It's all about the layers....
Happy creating,
Peggy Lee

P.S.: keep an look out on facebook, Marion's blog for updates, photos for Marion and Tonya are both at CHA Winter 2013.

enjoy

Valentine's Cards

My favorite part of Valentine's Day is making Valentine's cards. The cheesier the better. Just love them.  When my kids were little  I used to hand make them for their classes.  Today I thought I would share a simple card design that is easy to duplicate 20 + times.

I used Pink Paislee's Secret Crush as my paper.

I started with a piece of white card stock cut 8.5 x 3.25 inches.  Then I folded the card at 4 inches then again at 8 inches then stapled it close to the folded edge.  Then I trimmed a piece of the Secret Crush paper, and added the Tim Holtz Mover's & Shapers Mini Typewriter die cut from Silver Card stock.  The To and From were printed from my computer using a the Rough Typewriter Font.

If you are making these for a class room, you could easily type out the names for your child and cut them to fit inside the typewriter.  I kept this card simple so that it was easily duplicated.

Then on the inside...

I glued a stick of gum and used some dollar stamps from Studio G to write out  "I'm Stuck On You", however, this could easily be printed on the computer before you assemble the cards.  The hearts were in the Pink Paislee Portfolio Clear Stamp Set.

These cards will be super fun to make with your child.  If you don't have small children, making them for the grown up kids in your life.
