My name is Lina and I am a craft-a-holic...LOL! I am simply an every and anything craft lover. I have been crafting since I was a child and scrapbooking for about 10 or 11 years now. Needless to say, I am addicted! I don't have a particular style and I notice that what I create can change day to day depending on my mood. I know what I like though... I like clean lines, I like colour, and I like clean, concise work. That's my goal every time I sit down to create.

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and lived there for the majority of my life except for a couple years ago when my hubby and I moved to a suburb of Toronto, about 25 minutes away.

In October of 2013, hubs and I welcomed our first child, Alessandra to the world. She's brought such joy to our lives and we are truly blessed! She's the love of our lives and being a mommy to her has given my life such purpose and meaning!

I love to curl up on the couch and watch movies with the love of my life, my daughter and my two puppies Romeo & Jackson. Romeo is my first "real" pet and was a gift from my hubby. He is a black Shih-Poo, 8 years old and has a teddy bear face. He's one of the smartest dogs you'll ever meet! Jackson is still a puppy and is 4 years old. He is a white Bichon-Shih Tzu mix and the happiest of puppies...especially when he chases his tail and finally catches it!

Today, I'd like to share a shadow box layout I created of my daughter at 6 weeks. I am really a random person and rarely stick to one collection or paper crafting company. I like to use what works. For the layout, I used a lovely piece of Prima Songbird paper called "Title-it". I've been hoarding this piece for a while and thought now would be a great time to use it ;) I also used, in terms of paper, Pink Paislee, London Market, Addington. In the background, I used a large white paper doily in the far back to create a soft, feminine backdrop for the papers and photo.

Embellishing was easy as pie... I used some Kaiser Craft Die cuts in Charlotte's Dream and MME, The Sweetest Thing, Lavender Stickers. To finish the entire piece off, I used many IAR mulberry flowers and leaves along with some crocheted flowers. Arranged within the flower cluster and in the top right hand corner I added a lace hand tied bow.

I think that the over all look of my piece is girly and feminine, shabby chic, but modern at the same time.

The frame itself, I left alone. I just really liked the black wood it's made of and thought it complemented the over all shabby chic look of my layout.

I would like to sincerely thank the Artsy Addicts Team for asking me to be a part of such a wonderful blog, even if it's for just a day :) It was an absolute pleasure and I am honoured beyond words!

Best Wishes Card and Sketch using Washi Tape by Peggy Lee

Challenge is to use (washi tape) on your project!!

Here is my take on Tonya's Sketch..

"Best Wishes" Card

Card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

I grabbed a few of my washi tape collections (which I have discovered

that I need more, yes more washi tape...)

I had a paper doily sitting on my table which I colored it 

with Distress Ink in spun sugar and a little water!!

For texture I splatted some ink watered down onto the card.

I took my center washi tape and covered a piece of paper then die cut out

a tag shape....cut out another piece of white paper to stamp 

"Best Wishes" onto popped them both up and glued a twine bow on!!

Oh embellished with a button and sequins...

There you have it my finished card...so cute!!

Sun Kiss Cards by Tonya Gibbs

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you are set for a super fab crafty weekend.  I am still on a card making mission.  Today I wanted to share with you another card sketch, and two versions of the same sketch.  

 

 

Confessions of a Paper Addict -  Prima's Sun Kiss collection was one of my all time favorites, and I bought several 6x6 pads.  I was planning to fussy cut and die cut one pad, and then create with the second.  Truth is, I ended up hoarding them both!   So I reached into my sketch arsenal and went to work.

  

 

 

Here is the first version of my card.  

 

Tip: The doily behind the butterfly was cut from the paper, I flipped it upside down and used the white side on my card!)  This is a great way to use up unwanted patterns.

 

I decided to recreate the same card, but rotate the orientation for the second version.  I didn't want to cover up the smaller butterflies on the right, so  I also changed up the location of the sentiment.

March Challenge by Tonya Gibbs

  

 

 

  

Pantone has announced that its 2014 color of the year is Radiant Orchid.  Well I have to admit, purple is not usually my first choice, but I do think the color makes a powerful statement when used properly.  So I thought I would use this opportunity to challenge myself, and the other members in the Artsy Addicts Facebook group.  Let's use this color tone in March!

 

Just for a little fun - I would like to purpose a challenge for March 2014. We will feature the work of those who participate before the deadline on the We Are Artsy Addicts blog.  This is a personal challenge and not a contest, so there are no winners or prizes. 

 

Here is what you need to do....

 

**RULES**

1. Post a photo of your project in the Artsy Addicts Facebook Group (Only 1 project per participant will be included in the blog post. However, feel free to post as many projects as you like with the challenge).
2. Give a description to your project (this will be used as the caption for the post on the blog)
3. Hash tag the post ‪#‎AAMarchChallenge‬ (this is so I can find them later)
4. Deadline for posting is March 24 (you can still post after this date, but it may not be featured on this blog).

Baby Shower Keepsake Box

Happy Monday morning to all our Artsy Addicts fans....it's Peggy Lee here 

sharing with you all my altered keepsake box.

 That I created for my daughter's friend who is having a baby,

they just had her baby shower! 

Started with a simply dollar store box that I painted the edges.

Added beautiful scrapbook papers-distressed the edges.

With my mixture of plaster and gesso along with a mask (stencil) 

created the texture all over the box.

Added some color with beautiful sprays (your favorites).

Trimmed with laces and trims....vintage buttons and resin pieces.

Handmade fabric flowers, mother of pearl buttons, 

along with embellishments in my scrap piles.

Chipboard bunny came from my stash...gesso it many layers...

sprayed with a mists a few times to build depth.

Recycled Mini Album-Part 2 & Finished Album

Here is my Part 2 of the Recycled Mini Album...using card board from my recycle box.

I finished white washing the pages of my mini....inking the rough edges.

Tearing the photo mats out of Kraft printed paper...white washing with gesso 

and adding plaster with a stencil to give even more texture.

Adding a chipboard cutout of a clock I had in my stash, gluing down

onto the cover...along with punching my holes and binding my mini

with white cording.

Roughly tore out a photo mat just shy of 5 x 7 size

inked edges and glued down.

Now time to finish the album repeating with photo mats.....

adding embellishments, cutouts of paper, staples, etc.

Splashes of glimmer mist.

A little mixed media play after this crazy and busy Holiday Season!

I grabbed my altered book and supplies!

And went to town...it's really fun to have no directions and just play.

Covered with gesso to prime the book pages.

Next texture layer.

Plaster and gesso mixture with your favorite masks and stencils.

Just so Pretty!

Colored the background with different color mists and sprays,

inks and paints.

Don't forget the stamping!!!

I also used Marion Smith Designs new stamps.

I stamped them on watercolor paper, painted with mists along with stamping

cut out and glued down....

Texture is so fabulous!!!

Holiday Sunshine Tags!!!

Good morning everyone..

Peggy Lee here bringing you a little "Holiday Sunshine" cheer in tags!

With the holidays right around the corner from us, I knew creating my own holiday tags was a must!!

It warms the heart of someone special to receive a beautiful 

handmade tag on a gift, or as a gift to adorn their gifts, trees etc.

using the Sunshine My Mind's Eye paper collection.

With no direction I just sat down and started creating...covering shipping tags.

Adding texture with drywall tape, gesso and stucco...

Sprays and splatters of different mists

chipboard pieces, twines, burlap, flowers and buttons...

**do you see the fresh fallen snow**

that's right I went outside this morning in 10 degrees bitter cold temps

to capture the photos in the beautiful sunshine. :)

every tag needs a little glimmer of gold...
