Featured Artist: Lynne Forsythe

Hi Artsy Addicts Peeps...
What an honor and a privilege to be asked to Guest Design for Artsy Addicts.
My name is Lynne Forsythe and I hail from the small BUT BEAUTIFUL state of New Hampshire.
I was introduced to paper crafting approximately 7 years ago when I walked into a local scrapbook store located in a neighboring town I had just relocated to...and what a  WONDERFUL ride it has been!

I began by creating scrapbook pages, then I moved to cards and then was exposed to the whole world "mixed media" and my life has never been the same!

On my journey, I  have had opportunity to be a part of some very AMAZING Design Teams: Zutter International, Reminisce and the Swirlydoos Education Team. I currently design and teach for Petaloo International, Splash of Color (formerly Creative Imaginations) and am Design Team Coordinator for Die~Namites Dies. I have been published in numerous magazines and teach at Scrapbook Retreats and Local Scrapbook Stores. In the near future I will also be offering online classes through a fantabulous online store. Lastly, I had the amazing opportunity to be to attend Ranger U and become Ranger Certified, a life changing event!

I love..."I wonder if..." moments, especially when they work. Then I can't wait to share it with...anyone who will listen whether on my blog...The Next Best Thing by Lynne or on my YouTube Channel. In my travels, I have met some amazing people, whom I've had the privilege of kicking out of their "proverbial box".

I would like to THANK, my AMAZING FRIEND,  Peggy Lee Baker, for introducing me to Artsy Addicts and all you UBER CREATIVE Peeps!

Now, another thing I like to do is tell on myself! The other day a very good friend commented that she knew a creation was made by me as it had my trademarks, flower cluster in lower left corner, loopy bows, distressed, colored backgrounds...and I became concerned that I have become way too predictable. So, after a phone conversation with Peggy the other morning, I decided to pull out an old book and create an art journal. A book I can try new things in and just allow my creativity to flow, unbridled by specific products or deadlines.

I am so looking forward to creating in my art journal!

For my cover I used so many of my favorite things......vintage lace, stencils, stamps, gel medium, vintage jewelry, die cuts and flowers.

Using Multi Medium, I covered my book with various torn pages of the Travel Collage Pack.  For the binding, I added a piece of burlap for texture. Next, I applied Black Embossing Paste through the Cherry Blossom Stencil and let dry. Then, with a fan brush, I applied globs of Gold Precious Metal Effects Paint to the edges of the cover and spritzed with water and watched to goodness flow.

I had a Knobby Branch Die, cut from Linen Paper, already colored with Twinkling H20's laying on my work surface. So, I proceeded to cut it apart and applied to to my cover over the stenciled image.

I colored a few Mini Pearl Daisies with a bit of Cinnamon Brown Silk Acrylic glaze and Gold Precious Metal Effect Paint.....using spritzed water to move the colors. When dry I applied them to my cover.

My favorite part to my cover is my "Dress Form Lady"! Using Canvas, I cut out the Dress Form, colored it and proceeded to make her dress. I found a piece of Antique Lace, painted on a bit of Multi Medium, and as it was drying, formed it to fit the Mannequin.

I accented the dress with a few "loopy bows" and an Antique Button.

I finished off my Art Journal with the perfect saying....."dare to explore your dreams"!

I hope you've enjoyed my creation...and once again...THANKS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY to share!
