Baby Shower Keepsake Box

Happy Monday morning to all our Artsy Addicts fans....it's Peggy Lee here 

sharing with you all my altered keepsake box.

 That I created for my daughter's friend who is having a baby,

they just had her baby shower! 

Started with a simply dollar store box that I painted the edges.

Added beautiful scrapbook papers-distressed the edges.

With my mixture of plaster and gesso along with a mask (stencil) 

created the texture all over the box.

Added some color with beautiful sprays (your favorites).

Trimmed with laces and trims....vintage buttons and resin pieces.

Handmade fabric flowers, mother of pearl buttons, 

along with embellishments in my scrap piles.

Chipboard bunny came from my stash...gesso it many layers...

sprayed with a mists a few times to build depth.

Take Flight Layout by Tonya Gibbs

Today is my daughter, Brittany's 20th Birthday.   I'm so proud of her.  She has blossomed into such a beautiful, caring, and happy young woman.   When she enters the room you never know what to expect. She could speak to you in French, or just start singing - you just never know.  I wanted to showcase her fun spirit on a layout this year for her birthday. Teresa Collins' Memorabilia line is so elegant that I thought it would make the perfect backdrop for my formal black and white photos.  During this photo session she was twirling around and singing to me.  It was such a fun day!

 

 

 

The note cards in this line are pefect!  This one says "Always be Ready To Have the Time of Your Life."  This just seemed to be the perfect advice to give a 20 year old.  The only thing missing is "and take lots of photos!"     I wanted to add a little glitz to the layout - so I used the gold sequins from the collection, along with splatters of gold ink from Liquitex.

 

 

 

I used the Stamps from Teresa's Sweet Afternoon collection as additional accents. I loved the saying on the stamp set. Spread Your Wings, Take Flight. I felt that it really conveys the thoughts a mother has for her 20 year old, and the butterfly gave the perfect touch. I stamped it on vellum and layered two on top of each other, so that they have depth.

Shabby Card with "Scarlet" digitals...

Here is a little shabby chic card I created with Marion Smith's new printable digitals called "Scarlet"!!

The other day I decided to play along with a card sketch...

I love all the soft colors and tones of this printable digial!

It's so fun to sew on your card fronts with using your sewing machine, adding stucco/gesso texture with a mask stencil...

cutting on the Cricut to get the different shapes to highlight

Add a little pink flower with leaves (white washing)

Cutting little butterflies images out of the Scarlet printable digital!!

Great way to create embellishments!

A Little Shabby.....

I was playing with some textures and color with mists...so I decided to create a couple of shipping tags with Marion Smith's new "Scarlet" printable digitals that you can purchase at www.marionsmithdesigns.com.

Using a stucco/gesso mixture and a mask created texture on the paper cover tags. Then spraying different mist here and there to add color/tones to the tags...and splats of glimmer mist!!!

On this blue-ish tone tag, I made a sikly handmade flower with pearls, tucked in some colored Petaloo (color me crazy) flowers cut in half. Took a tag embellishment cut from "Scarlet" embellishment digital sheet, cut the tag in half and tucked behind the silky flower. Punched out a butterfly also out of the "Scarlet" digital page...Also added texture and painted the chipboard cherry blossom piece. Last bit of touches was adding vintage seqins and pearl stickpin... 

 

This tag with demask stucco/gesso texture background with pinks/brown tones of color...so shabby chic!

Distressed a paper doily, with fuzzy cutting out rose, butterfly, and lady digital embellishments from the "Scarlet" digital collection. Of course this little tag needed some vintage frames and pink flowers with lace and seam binding....

Happy Easter Banner

With Easter being this weekend I thought I would create a little wall art to hang in my home. I knew I wanted a vintage feel, I was drawn to this 7gypsies paper collection "Trousseau". This paper collection is so vintage inspired pretty, I started with layering different size pieces of the beautiful paper collection, distressed the edges (can you believe there is no ink at all). The base is made out of a 7gypsies Ringed Accordion (naked journal board book) that I took apart and now can create little wall arts for my home.

I rolled one side of the paper to give depth and a place to tuck little goodies in....

I of course had to fuzzy cut out the roses from one of the papers, added the collection stickers "Trousseau" to write "happy easter"

Did you see I tucked in "mother of pearl buttons" here and there!!!

got to have mother of pearl buttons...

I had rolled some sheer material to create a little shabby rosette!

Added a pearl button for the center, with a stick pin to tuck behind it.

And a little bling and lace trims.

This is a great start on my Easter decoration and yes "little vintage inspired".

Beach - Layout

I love living in Florida and so close to the beach.  When Jade called and said she was flying into Jacksonville and needed a ride to Daytona Beach - honey  I couldn't wait to take her on a tour of Florida's First Coast!  She dipped her toes in the sand of  three Florida beaches during her visit each with a a unique sandy surface.

Today I would like to share with you a layout that I created of our first stop - Velano Beach near St. Augustine.  

For my layout I chose the following Canvas Corp products.  I love how simple and organic these products look.  Each reminds me so much of the beach.

Tattered Angels Plain Jane Sky, Tattered Angels Chalkboard Splash,
Canvas Corp Beach Sampler paper, Burlap Sheet, Twine Cord,  mini white paper bags, and kraft tags.

I wanted the layout to have a lot of white space so that I could show off the splashes from the Tattered Angels products to give the look of the sea foam splashing up on shore. I cut apart the Beach Sampler page to create the layers, and painted the burlap with white gesso sprayed with the Plain Jane Sky. The ATC sized Mini bag was a perfect holder for my journal tag. To give it a little character, I marbled gesso, Plain Jane Sky and Chalkboard Splash then dredged the white bag through the paints. 

 

We collected the shells from the beach as a souvenir, so I thought it would be nice to use them on the layout.  The shells at the bottom of this layout were also from the beach.   I love how the shells provide an organic texture, while grounding  the layout.

Coin Envelope Mini Album Part 2 (Finished)

Part 2 of the coin envelope mini album I shared with you all last week, added some seam binding and little gems and beads to hang of the edge of the mini. I wanted to keep the mini simple and clean, trying my best not to over embellish the mini..

Which you all know how I love to junk up my mini albums.

just adding a paper doily with laces.

every album needs a little gem

two or three...

This little mini would look great with black and white photos.

2013 Calendar Display

Hi everyone just a few more days until Christmas.  If you are looking for a last minute gift idea, I hope I can inspire you today.  

I love to make these calendars for co-workers, friends, and family and they are always well received.

It only takes a few hours to whip one out, and look at how elegant they are for a desk or counter top.

 

For my base I started with a MyTeddyBoo Eiffel Tower chipboard mini album page.  I covered it with Pion Designs Studio of Memories Paper.  Then softened the paper with some gorgeous lace trim.  I embossed the tower with Frantage Shabby Gold embossing powder. The gorgeous floral spray was made from a mixed selection of Prima flowers, a few Tim Holtz metal embellishments, a button and some stamped tickets from the Prima Songbird stamp collection.  The calendars are adhered with a spiral Christmas Tree hook that I got from the dollar store. 

 

 

 

 

On the back, the Tim Holtz Small Easel die was used to make the panel sit on desk.  I made a pocket to house the extra calendar pieces.

 

I created this Calendar printable as a thank you to all of my followers.  I hope you find a use for it in some of your 2013 projects.  You may download it on my blog.

Christmas Eye Candy!!!

Giving some Christmas Cheer-my husband's work did a secret Santa exchange so he ask if I could create a card gift set and I was thrilled to create for him, so I started with a 12x12 cream card stock cut at 4 inches to make 3 cards 4x6 size (great way to save on card stock). I had purchased the Creative Imaginations IOD Christmas papers (Joy cards and Rejoice) at my local scrapbook store. I really love the vintage feel of this paper line and with my vintage mother of pearl buttons, seam binding and simple dollar store Christmas decorations...whoola beautiful gift set.

 Christmas eye candy - got to love those glittery and sparkly snowflakes (that come in many colors). Delish!

The gift set came with 6 one of kind cards with envelopes, an ornament, 8 gift tags and a french fry box (cut from the CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge).

Garment District: Mini Tag Album

I was in need of a mini album for a special gift and I wanted this mini album to be able to hold only a few photos. Laying on my desk top was a plain shipping tag, and I knew that's it I could create shabby chic mini tag album for my friend. I couldn't resist I knew the Garment District Printables were just perfect for the album, plus I could use up my scraps from my other projects.

 Supplies: are simple one shipping tag to trace on backside of printable, pencil to trace and scissors to cut out tags. Distress inks (brushed corduroy) and edge distresser to rough up the edges, hole punch and eyelet setter.

 Garment District printable scraps, journal spots and embellishments, assorted trims, twine, lace and buttons/gems.

 Making sure to used 3D pop dots to help give depth and places to tuck in little gems here and there.

 For the little trim on the bottom of the tags, was a pretty bright white, I used Perfect Pearl Mist (blue patina) to help tone down and give a hint of vintage.
