Happy Monday morning to all our Artsy Addicts fans....it's Peggy Lee here
sharing with you all my altered keepsake box.
That I created for my daughter's friend who is having a baby,
they just had her baby shower!
Started with a simply dollar store box that I painted the edges.
Added beautiful scrapbook papers-distressed the edges.
With my mixture of plaster and gesso along with a mask (stencil)
created the texture all over the box.
Added some color with beautiful sprays (your favorites).
Trimmed with laces and trims....vintage buttons and resin pieces.
Handmade fabric flowers, mother of pearl buttons,
along with embellishments in my scrap piles.
Chipboard bunny came from my stash...gesso it many layers...
sprayed with a mists a few times to build depth.

Thanks for stopping in today,
hugs,

The Christmas Box

Good morning everyone it's Peggy Lee here to share with you a little Christmas Box that I altered a bit ago. I found this cute little wooden box at a thrift store for only pennies.
I knew I wanted to alter it as a little gift giving box for the holidays.
This would be such adorable gift box filled with pretty little ear rings, necklace or even chocolates.
Tutorial
Wooden box
I sanded down the wooden box and covered it with gesso.
Painted the edges with Silks Acrylic Glaze in Emperor's Gold.
Paper I used was KaiserCraft Turtle Dove.
Using a Prima mask (damask) design and stucco/gesso mixture
laid it down over the whole box.
I have boxes of those glittered snowflakes that you can get at
your local Walmart Store/Dollar Stores.
Stacked up to create a tree...
glitter snowflake-button-glitter snowflake
repeat until desired height.
Decorate as desired...I used this angel chipboard piece
from the KaiserCraft Turtle Dove Collection.
Added some Melissa Frances shabby chic frames,
cheese clothe,
string of pearls,
and my favorite little touches of
vintage mother of pearl buttons.
Decorate the inside as well and pretty place
to hold a little gift to share.

hugs,

A Little Shabby.....

I was playing with some textures and color with mists...so I decided to create a couple of shipping tags with Marion Smith's new "Scarlet" printable digitals that you can purchase at www.marionsmithdesigns.com.
Using a stucco/gesso mixture and a mask created texture on the paper cover tags. Then spraying different mist here and there to add color/tones to the tags...and splats of glimmer mist!!!
On this blue-ish tone tag, I made a sikly handmade flower with pearls, tucked in some colored Petaloo (color me crazy) flowers cut in half. Took a tag embellishment cut from "Scarlet" embellishment digital sheet, cut the tag in half and tucked behind the silky flower. Punched out a butterfly also out of the "Scarlet" digital page...Also added texture and painted the chipboard cherry blossom piece. Last bit of touches was adding vintage seqins and pearl stickpin...

This tag with demask stucco/gesso texture background with pinks/brown tones of color...so shabby chic!
Distressed a paper doily, with fuzzy cutting out rose, butterfly, and lady digital embellishments from the "Scarlet" digital collection. Of course this little tag needed some vintage frames and pink flowers with lace and seam binding....
Here are some pics of the steps for creating the backgrounds...
Digital papers covering the tags
and
Adding texture with stucco/gesso with Prima Masks....

Adding color with different mists...
don't forget the splatters!!!!
and the pink tag...

Hope enjoyed this little blog post sharing creating some gift tags...with textures and mist...

Peggy Lee

Mixed Media Monday

I got to have some creative play this week with a friend and knew I wanted to create a mixed media canvas for someone special. That is why there is no title on this art piece yet (I will post after I have mailed this art piece out)! This was a lot of fun to create...
It all started with a plan 6x6 canvas, I glued down some wrinkled natural tissue paper.
I forgot to snap a photo of me trying out my new find which was Martha Stewart Stucco Paint where I used Crafters Workshop stencils with Splash of Color Primary Elements: Majestic Blue-Costa Rica and Dragon Wing powders those are so cool to mixed with molding paste or stucco like I used.
I used my favorite Tim Holtz Sizzix die: Tattered Floral which I cut with Coraline fabric with some of my favorite Tattered Angels glimmer mist. I just love how the Coraline will hold it's shape while being dried. I also used some Petaloo flowers that came in white.
I used some Dusty Attic chipboard pieces, which I cut apart and gesso them with spraying glimmer mist to give a weathered look.
These are Tim Holtz Sizzix die: Gears gesso-glimmer misted!!!
I just love how they came out.
Here is a close up of the handmade flowers with a Prima flower.
The next sets of photos show case the textures of adding layers of:
gesso, stucco, glimmer mist and stamping.
the fibers are cheese cloth covered in glimmer mists....
oops-I was being lazy and used my hand to clean my stamp...lol
and whoola my finished canvas (only needs a title) and will be complete and I hope my friend that someone special will enjoy it.

Don't be afraid of mixed media grab a few supplies and just start playing, it's all about the layers...enjoy!!
Thanks for stopping in today, remember to leave a comment!!

Lattice Album: Marion Smith Designs & Leaky Shed Studios

Mini Pretty: Lattice Chipboard Album
I am in love with these amazing new mini albums that Marion Smith has designed for Leaky Shed Studios. Marion sent me a goodie box with this Lattice Mini Album with her Romance Novel paper collection with  the embellishments. It took me a few days to decide on how I was going to create with this beautiful album (let's say there are so many ideas and styles you can do with these albums). I really wanted the lattice to the main focus and with a birdcage with flowers, I feel it pops!!!
my mini got a little chunky
I left the first page pretty plane to help showcase the lattice cover.
Marion's papers really don't need any embellishing they are so pretty in detail.
I created pockets with tags.
The last page I created a pocket to hold more photos and tags.
ohhhh this is my favorite paper of the collection
Page close ups:
Marion out did herself with this beautiful collection called "Romance Novel".
It's a must have if you can still get your hands on it.

The roses were plain white Prima roses which I painted with glimmer mist and distress inks.
a little peak of the popped up air balloon
love the lattice

I simply loved working with this chipboard album, amazing quality and it takes ink, stains and crackle perfectly so fun to create with.

Thanks for stopping in and hope you enjoy.
And we would love to hear from you-just leave us a comment below.
