Canvas Flower Pin
Good morning everyone I have decided to take on Tonya Gibbs Challenge from the Artsy Addicts Facebook!! The color inspiration is drawn from the beautiful photo....RADIANT ORCHID is the 2014 Pantone Color of the Year.
I created a canvas flower pin!
You all know that Easter is right around the corner, this would be so beautiful to wear
or give as a lovely gift.
I started with a raw natural canvas flower (already per-made for you)...
I grabbed my different mist in the colors to match the challenge...
Started to spray and play!!
I added some cheese clothe, lace, pearls and handmade flower with
some beautiful per made flowers! Seam binding and a facet with paper glued behind it.
Tutorial-handmade flower
I took Tattered Angels-Pure Mistable Paper
I cut a rolled flower out of the paper, misted with water...took my glimmer mist
and a paint brush and dabbed on the color around the edges.
I rolled it up wet, unrolled and dry a little-then rolled up again glued
together....dried again! Whoola!

Thanks for stopping by today!
Don't forget still time to take part in the challenge on Artsy Addicts Facebook page....here is the link

Love Note by Tonya Gibbs

Last week I shared with you my little "How I Love You Mini Album".  When I was clearing off my desk for my next project, I realized I had enough scraps to make a few more items.  So today I'm sharing with you a card and treat bag that I made with the scraps.

This card came together quickly and I love how it matches the gift that will accompany it. (My little mini).   The sentiment is from a Studio G stamp and was heat embossed with Ranger's Red Glitter embossing powder.  The flags and heart were left over from the Count Down to Kisses Sampler paper.  To give the card some depth between layers,  I added a Cheery Lynn Designs Polynesian Sails Oval Die cut in black cardstock between the background and overlaying banner cluster.   The banner is the b-side of the swirls paper.

For the candy treat bag, I used a couple of  'Mini' candy bars and wrapped the 'Lips and Stash' paper around them, Then placed them into a clear zip bag, and topped it with more of the paper. A little seam binding finished off the top of the bag.  These make super simple Valentines for the little ones  in my world.

As you know, I love using my scraps.  But I find it super rewarding to use them immediately after a project is complete.

Thanks for stopping in today.

How I Love You - Mini Album by Tonya Gibbs

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary in a few weeks, and I wanted to create an album that shows how much I love him.

I love the rich vibrant colors and smooth texture of the Canvas Corp basic papers and wanted to use them for my mini.

On the cover - I dipped a heart shaped cookie cutter in white paint and stamped the heart pattern on clear book cover stock.   I used my Bind it all and a 1/2 inch ring to bind the book together. To camouflage the rings, I tied a loose loop bow and put it on the side of a Canvas Corp red canvas flower.

Here is a look at a few of my favorite pages from the mini.

To keep the book consistent with the theme, I printed all pictures in black and white. Most of the photos used in this book were taken from my Instagram library.   They are the perfect size for a mini album.

The Whimsical patterns from the Canvas Corp papers, make this mini fun, and romantic.   I cut a lot of Polaroid frames from solids to help break up the busy patterns from the papers. I encourage you to also use the solids to cut small accent pieces like this Tim Holtz Mini Vintage Camera die.

For a complete walk through of the album page by page, please watch this  YouTube video.

Recycled Mini Album-Part 2 & Finished Album

Here is my Part 2 of the Recycled Mini Album...using card board from my recycle box.
I finished white washing the pages of my mini....inking the rough edges.
Tearing the photo mats out of Kraft printed paper...white washing with gesso
and adding plaster with a stencil to give even more texture.
Adding a chipboard cutout of a clock I had in my stash, gluing down
onto the cover...along with punching my holes and binding my mini
with white cording.
Roughly tore out a photo mat just shy of 5 x 7 size
inked edges and glued down.
Now time to finish the album repeating with photo mats.....
adding embellishments, cutouts of paper, staples, etc.
Splashes of glimmer mist.

OH CHRISTMAS TREE

Hi Artsy Addicts fans!
Peggy Lee here to share with you
a little mixed media canvas.
Even though it's still November and Thanksgiving is next week.
I have already started listening to Christmas music...one of my favorites is...
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree
How lovely are Thy Branches
Love that song!!!
So with that I have been playing and creating tree theme artwork.

"OH CHRISTMAS TREE"
mixed media canvas
Using a Canvas Corp's canvas
I started by spraying some Heidi Swapp Color Shine
in Tinsel and Teal  and  Perfect Pearls Mists in many colors.
to create the background...adding texture
with Crafters Workshop stencils
and stucco/gesso mixture.
To create even more texture-randomly stamp all over canvas
also splatters of Color Shine and Perfect Pearls Mists!!
Cut out Tattered Leaves (Tim Holtz die) out of linen fabric...
colored with Distressed Stains in Bundled Sage and Forest moss.
Edged with Viva Precious Metal Effects Paint in Gold!
Covered the colored, stamps leaves with gel medium to give strength.
which helps shape the leaves in place.
Title "Oh Christmas Tree" hand written and backed in burlap mesh...
same burlap mesh became a tree trunk.
Tree leaves adorn with tiny real pine cones glittered with
Precious Metal Effects Paint in Gold
Garland is Canvas Corps jute rope...I love the woodies feel it gives the tree.

Thanks for stopping in today,
Please leave comments for us with what's your favorite Christmas song!!
Like what music do you listen to while creating?

Happy Holidays,
Peggy Lee

Elvis Canvas by Tonya Gibbs

My sister's birthday was this past weekend, and I decided to make her a canvas featuring her cute little Elvis basset hound for her birthday (OK - truthfully there has been some shamelessly begging for a canvas for a while! Lots of hints dropped on Facebook, bantering and teasing.) So that means it was the perfect gift, right?

Elvis loves to ride around in his little wagon. My sister decorated it all up for the 4th of July parade, and he looks like a king sitting on his thrown. (Fitting for his name ::WINK::)

Her home is decorated Americana, so I thought Canvas Corp's denim, and 4th of July product lines were perfect for this project! I used Canvas Corp's Denim 12x12 canvas for my base, and the 4th of July Words On White for the rosettes. The Flag and US Constitution were taken from the Freedom Sampler paper.  I accented the sides with the Red Jute Twine from Canvas Corp.

The hearts were cut from the Sizzix Primitive Heart die, and then Tiny wooden tags that spell out his name were added as the title.

I know the 4th has come and gone, but it is never too late to scrap those memories.

Thanks for stopping in today, I hope you guys have an awesome weekend.

Nail Art Plaque - CHA Project

Hi everyone, I'm really excited today to share with you a project that I created for the Canvas Corp, Marion Smith, 7Gypsies and Tattered Angels booth at the Summer Create -n- Connect 2013 Show (also known as summer CHA).

Nail Art Plaque on Display at CHA Summer 2013 - Designed by Tonya A. Gibbs #7Gypsies #TatteredAngels #CanvasCorp #MixedMedia #ArtsyAddicts #Psychomomscrapbooks

I wanted to create a vibrant mixed media piece with the luscious Tattered Angel's Blue Green mediums but wanted it to be a bit unusual. I was inspired by some string art projects that I found on Pinterest.   Since I live in Florida I decided to theme my project around the beach.

I pulled out all of my Tattered Angels sprays in blues, turquoise, and mint greens.   (colors used are  listed under the photo)

Glimmer Mists: True Turquoise (not pictured),  Lake Shore, Caribbean Blue, Bubbles, Mantis,  Maya Blue, Chalkboard Glimmer Mist:  Sandy Beach, Mantis,  Plain Jane: Sky, and Glimmer Glam: Palm Leaf

Nail Art Plaque on Display at CHA Summer 2013 - Designed by Tonya A. Gibbs #tatteredangels #ArtsyAddicts #Psychomomscrapbooks

I started by painting my unfinished wooden plaque with white full bodied gesso.  Once it was dry, I began building layers of the Tattered Angels Glimmer, Plain Jane and Chalkboard sprays all over the surface. I started with the blues and added small amounts of the greens to give the colors of the Florida coast line.  I then mixed in some of the Palm Leaf Glam and hit is with my heat gun causing the glaze to crackle and provide texture.  This texture gives the illusion of looking through the water to ground below. I love how all the glimmer swirled to give the piece movement and depth.  I made sure this surface was very  dry before starting the next step.

I made a paste of clear Elmer's Glue & Sea Shells - I spread this paste across the plaque diagonally.  I encouraged the dripping along the sides of the plaque for interest.  The Glue is so thick that it took a long time to be completely dry.  I let it sit for at least 24 hours.

I combined modeling paste and full bodied gesso into a paste and spackled some irregular lines  to give the illusion of waves crashing the shore.  I also spread a little of this into the shells to give the look of sea mist.

Once EVERYTHING was completely dry I sprayed the entire plaque with a clear Acrylic Spray paint to seal the Glimmer mists.  I didn't want them to get wet and run.

For the star,  I started with a silhouette starfish image that I found on the Internet.   I printed it the size of my plaque. I went out to the garage and found used rusty nails (they need the flat head on top to make sure the twine doesn't slip). The nails were about 2 inches long. I nailed around the perimeter of the star pattern, and removed the pattern from the plaque before wrapping my twine. The Canvas Corp twine was the perfect "rustic" style to give my start fish life.

This was a super simple project that resulted in a cute home decor item.  I think I might hang this  in my guest bathroom.

CHA Projects | Summer 2013

I had a blast creating these projects for Canvas Corp, Tattered Angels, and 7 Gypsies. I must admit that I forgot to take pictures of two additional projects before I sent them out. Oops. My excitement got the best of me.

 photo CanvasEditedAA_zps23795ecd.jpg

For this layout I used the 7 Gypsies (Insert Name Here) for the background. I used a (insert foundation name here). I attempted to do a woodgrain texture but I totally screwed that up decided to do a parkay floor texture. It turned out great. Loved the depth of color.

   photo CanvasCloseAA_zps9fd48fa4.jpg

I wanted the papers I used to reflect the colors of my wedding so I decided to use a couple of the Canvas Corp canvas printed papers in black/cream. The black/cream chevron is printed canvas and the text paper is mulberry paper (i think). They were both gorgeous and so easy to adhere using the Canvas Corp mixed media adhesive. I absolutely love that stuff.

For my next project I used a few pictures from my city's big 4th of July celebration. They matched perfectly with the colors of the patterned papers in the Canvas Corp collection. I threw in the anchor paper to reflect Houston's booming businesses.

 photo July4LayoutAA_zps5d052b14.jpg

I also did a bit of stamping around the edge of the background paper with a stamp from CTMH. I also made some frames from leftover canvas I used to make a banner earlier. (I forgot to take pics of the banner). A bit of cord, hand cut canvas pennants, and some strategic paper placement completes this layout.

I had so much fun making these projects and am looking forward to displaying them when they make it back from the show.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tattered Dress Form Canvas Art

I have been adding texture to this canvas piece for awhile now...every time I used some stucco and gesso with stencil mask I would use up the extra onto this canvas.
I created the dress form for another project that I haven't finished so the inspiration for the background colors came from the dress form.
Dress form I white washed with gesso, grunge it up with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy with water.
Then started dripping Tattered Angels glimmer mist down the sides of the dress form
and letting it run down and around the body.
Stamped the dress form with a few 7gpysies stamps with archival black ink.
You can just keep adding layers of mist, ink!!
Oh don't forget to do glimmer splats...
I learned this techqinue from Marion Smith a few years back on grunging a dress form.
I knew I wanted to create some paper cone wing shape wreath..
Cut up an olde scrabble game pages into 2x2 squares
and began to roll into a cone shape, glued down
and tucked behind the dress form.
White washed the cones with a few little sprays of glimmer mist to match the background
and more splats!!
Oh adding a chain with dangles with a Petaloo Color Me Flower..
with glimmer mist and stamping
creates adorable touch.
close up of the stamping
Oh I love how the stamping shows up on the Petaloo flower!!!
Finial touch was adding a Art-i-Cake headpin to the top of
dress form...
Love the texture of the canvas background! I encourage you to grab some Tattered Angels Glimmer mist, paints and start playing....you never know where the art piece will lead you.

Thanks for stopping by today,
Peggy Lee
