4th of July Tri-Fold Mini

Let the 4th of July Celebration begin!

With the 4th among us this week I wanted to create a little tri-fold mini to sit upon the table for all to enjoy. 

Also to inspire you to create  home decor items with your scrapbooking supplies.

To look outside the box!

Like taking this 7gypsies tri-fold journal card to create a little mini.

I started with a tri-fold journal card, gessoed lightly over the card-sprayed with homemade mist with brushed cordrury reinker and water.

Used walnut stain distress ink to ink the edges of the card, papers and embellishments.

Papers are 7gypsies Epicuream 6x6 paper pad cut down to 2.5x3.5 torn the edges and inked.

Die cut stars out of e-fluted kraft cardstock sheet, tied twine and button (also glimmer mist the stars).

Used a chalk marker to write Happy 4th of July on the chalkboard paper.

Fuzzy cut out images from the paper line for embellishments.

Wow it's April 1st already and we are finially feeling spring here in New England, yesterday was Easter and it was a beautiful 54 degrees (and yes that is a heat wave for us)...:)
With that being said I thought I would share an olde video with you all made for the Artsy Addicts Challenge awhile back. I created some handmade flowers using glimmer mist and bucram (I know I am not spelling that right). it's amazing fabric that holds it shape when wet.
I love spring  and planting spring flowers but even better to creating your own...

Butterfly Paper Clip - tutorial

I thought I would bring you a touch of spring today with this tutorial on how I created these cute butterfly paper clips.  They are perfect pocket buddies in your mini albums, add a magnet to trap notes on your fridge, or remove the clip and add a pin as a charm holder.  

 

 

Wood pieces are so popular in scrapbooking and paper crafting right now. You can really find all shapes and styles and they are so fun to docorate.  Mine were created with the following supplies, but please experiment with different products when making your own.

Coin Envelope Mini Album Part 2 (Finished)

Part 2 of the coin envelope mini album I shared with you all last week, added some seam binding and little gems and beads to hang of the edge of the mini. I wanted to keep the mini simple and clean, trying my best not to over embellish the mini..

Which you all know how I love to junk up my mini albums.

just adding a paper doily with laces.

every album needs a little gem

This little mini would look great with black and white photos.

Simple Sunday Card | Welcome Summer

Hello there.

Welcome to the first in our blog series of Simple Sunday Cards.

My hope is to bring you a simple card each sunday throughout the year, starting with today's card.

Welcome Summer

It's almost here and the anticipation is growing among my students and the teachers alike. We are all excited for the testing to be over and the break to begin.

This quick and easy card features Pink Paislee Nantucket Ephemera die cuts along with Patterned papers from October Afternoon - Farmhouse Collection and Jillibean Soup - Apple Cheddar Soup Collection , and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink - A Wreath for All Seasons Stamp Set. Aside from that all I added was dry and foam adhesive and rounded the corners with my corner chomped (the yellow one).

Quick and Easy.

Artsy Addicts Kit Project: Heavens to Betsy

Hi there.

Angee Lee Carter here with a quick card for you. I was chatting with Marion yesterday and she totally inspired me to get out one of my old Artsy Addicts kits and get crafty. Here's what I came up with.

I happen to love this card just because I used so many of my supplies that I'd purchased over the past few months but hadn't even opened. Call me a stamp collector. I buy lots of stamps because they appeal to me in some way but many of them have never seen any ink. Sigh. Yes I'm that crafter. I tend to go back to the same couple of stamp sets that I've fallen in love with.

So my resolution intention for 2012 is to ink up those un-inked stamps. Are you a collector or a crafter, or a little of both? Let me know in the comments and I might just have a little something to send one of you!

Card Composition:
Card Composition:
1. Trim patterned paper to a standard card size and adhere to card base.
2. Stamp tag with PTI - Damask Design Stamp using PTI - Canyon Clay ink
3. Color a strip of PTI - Vintage Cream card stock using SU! Cherry Cobbler Ink
4. Die cut strip of card stock from step 3 using PTI - Filigree Border Die, Adhere to stamped tag and adhere to cardbase
5. Trim strip of Vintage Cream card stock and stamp with Glory Be - "Heavens to Betsy" stamp using SU! Cherry Cobbler ink
6. Stamp "You are such a dear" stamp using SU! Mellow Moss Ink
8. Stamp Double line using stamp from PTI - Label Basics stamp set using PTI - Canyon Clay ink
9. Trim strip of PTI - Canyon Clay cardstock and add a strip of 1/8" score tape along bottom edge.
10. Pour glitter onto score-tape, and adhere Canyon Clay strip to Heaven's to Betsy Cardstock Strip, use dimensional adhesive and adhere to cardbase.
11. Fussy cut butterfly image from patterned paper and adhere to sentiment strip using dimensional adhesive.

Done and Done!

Shrink Plastic

When I was a kid I used to make magnets for the fridge with Shrinky Dinks. It was like watching a magic trick when Mom would pop them in the oven. We would turn the light on and watch them shrink into a tiny little charm. I haven't used them much in my scrapbooking projects because the film was always milky.

A few days ago, I found Shrink Plastic made by Lucky Squirrel. I was in love because this product comes in several color choices black, white, and crystal clear.

For those unfamiliar with the product you can decorate the film with permanent ink, pearlEx, Opalite, StazOn, Archival Ink, permanent markers, stamps, and non-oil pastels. If you are using markers, stamp on one side of the film, then color on the opposite side or the ink from the stamp will transfer to the tip of the pen and ruin it.

You can fussy cut around a stamped image, die cut, punch, cut with Cricut, Silhouette or any other cutting device. Just make sure your original image is 75% larger than your finished size. I will show you the measurements for the one that I created.

I used my Sewing room die cut from Tim Holtz to cut the dress form it measures almost 6 inches when cut.

When you stamp or color the image before you heat set it the design becomes fused into the plastic, and the design will also shrink with plastic. Of course you can also do some of this after the heating process if you would like your stamped image to be true to size.

Heat the Poly Shrink in an oven at the recommended settings or with a heat tool. If you are using a heat tool, please be careful and use tweezers to keep the image from sliding. Also - with the heat tool, you may want to keep the heat even so that the image doesn't distort too quickly and become a mess. I heated the smaller sections, and then flattened them out, before starting on the larger sections. It will curl as it heats, but will straighten back out once it is finished shrinking.

Here is a photo of my dress from after it has cooled. It is about 2 3/8 inch after the shrinking process.

Look at how cute the die cut is sitting on this card. You could also make charms to hang from mini albums, or use as embellishments on mini pages. The possibilities are endless!

Lucky Squirrel: Poly Shrink Plastic, Devine Twine: Bakers Twine, Dress It Up: Buttons,Inkadinkadoo: Bloom stamp.

There are so many other ways you can use and design these cute embellishments. We may explore them in a future post.
